Access to City's Facilities

I believe the city has made the correct decision in implementing a one-week advance registration period for St. John's city facilities.

This will enable citizens of St. John's to be "first in line" for access to recreational facilities and courses.

It must be remembered that this policy does not mean non-St. John's citizens will be denied access - just that they will have to wait a week to register.

This policy was implemented because St. John's citizens were claiming they did not get an opportunity to enrol in certain activities because non-residents were occupying spaces.

This is to begin in the Fall.

So let's monitor how it works and if it is found to be unnecessary or creating "barriers" as opponents of the proposal suggests, the policy can be reviewed and modified.
